Thinking of adding a new companion animal to your family?
We here at New Mexico Pets Alive! (NMPA!) realize you have many options to welcome a new companion animal into your family and we'd like to share some information with you about why adopting your next best friend is a WONDERFUL option!
Over 150,000 lovable, happy and healthy puppies, kittens, cats and dogs just like yours and mine enter New Mexico municipal and private animal facilities every year but on average, across the state, less than half of them make it out alive and into a loving home. Whether a purebred or lovable mutt or mixture of various breeds, we believe that they all deserve a second chance to find a happy home!
When you adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue organization, you save a life. When you adopt from New Mexico Pets Alive!, you save two or more lives. The one you just adopted and the next at-risk shelter pet/s sitting in a NM facility we are then able to transfer into our at-risk shelter pet rescue program. You become part of the NMPA! Rescue and Lifesaving Team helping to provide solutions to the growing problem of homeless pets and unnecessary euthanasia of healthy and treatable companion animals in New Mexico. At its foundation, you become a hero to us and that puppy, kitten, cat or dog you just adopted.
NMPA! does our very best to ensure healthy, adoptable animals by providing a pre-adoption assessment, veterinary care and other adoption preparatory services to meet the individual needs of each of our incoming rescues. To the best of our ability, we provide as much information as possible regarding the animal’s behavior
and personality. Spay/neuter is required for all of our adoptables. All NMPA adoptables receive
de-worming, flea/tick prevention, age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm
preventative, and heart-worm disease testing if over 6 months of age. We conduct our adoptions via foster to adopt process whereby you foster a pet for a short time, allowing you to live with that pet for a week before finalizing the adoption. If the match is not the right match for your family, we'd rather know upfront to help both you and our the animals in our care. We also offer post-adoption support via email and phone for the lifetime of your NMPA! pet. If you have already viewed our available adoptables online and have found a pet you may be interested in adopting, the next step is to complete our online foster to adopt application. Once we receive it, we'll be back in touch with you shortly.
