Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in our current employment positions. We hope you've had a chance to thoroughly review our website here to learn about our organization's philosophy and goals, current and future programming. Ten years ago the United States had only one community saving all healthy and treatable homeless pets in both private and municipal shelters (90% - 97% of lost, owner surrendered and homeless pets). That is our definition of a No Kill community. Today, we are fortunate to now have over 300 cities and towns, composing over 90 economically, socially and culturally diverse communities across the United States,
who have achieved this same level of success, with many more communities on the verge of achieving the same. Here in New Mexico, we have wonderful rescue groups and animal welfare organizations but we did not have an organization to speak to how we can duplicate this same level of success across NM so that, along with a life changing event, is how New Mexico Pets ALIVE! was founded the end of May, 2011.
New Mexico Pets ALIVE! (NMPA!) is a 501-c-3 nonprofit animal welfare organization serving people and pets in New Mexico. Our mission is to help reduce the influx of lost and homeless pets arriving in New Mexico shelters while simultaneously helping to increase the health and live release rates of those companion animals ending up in our animal control and shelter systems. We wish our state of New Mexico to achieve the companion animal welfare success of many communities across America.
NMPA!
seeks out the most successful companion animal life-saving programming
being implemented across the United States and we then promote and work
to deliver that programming here within our state of New Mexico for the
benefit of our people and our pets. Our current programs and those in
development include: The LifeRaft Lodge, Albuquerque Pets Alive!, Santa Fe Pets Alive! the annual Western States No Kill Conference and the facebook networking project: Save New Mexico Pets.
Inspired by the past 10+ years of success of our neighboring states achieving No-Kill communities, we are embarking upon one the largest companion animal life-saving efforts in New Mexico's history. With the help of some of the most successful veterinarians, behaviorists, rescue group and shelter leaders across North America, achieving upwards of 97% save/live release rates for their communities' lost and homeless pets, we are helping to develop and deliver informational and programmatic resources to help New Mexico achieve this same level of success.
Our NMPA! Team must to be passionate about making a large-scale positive impact for our homeless pets here New Mexico via the creation and delivery of ever-evolving 21st century solutions to meet the long-term needs of our state. If you have this same passion, we'd be happy to receive your resume for review.
With thanks and Best Wishes,
Melissa Roberts and Kurt Schlough, Co-Founders
