2012 and 2013 Financial & In-Kind Information:
As our organization relies on both financial and in-kind donations of goods and services to save lives and arrive at our average cost of $250 per life saved/pet adoption placement, we have included information from both below in a combined 2 year analysis for 2012 and 2013:
2012 and 2013 Financial Donations & Credits = $61,822.33
2012 and 2013 In-Kind Donations of Goods & Services = $37,400.00
Total financial and in-kind support for 2012 and 2013 = $99,222.33
Expenses total 100% of Revenue
- Programs & Services = 98% of expenses
- Management, G&A = 0% of expenses
- Fundraising = 2.1% of expenses
With lives saved and adoption placement of approximately 435 pets over the course of 2012 and 2013, that puts our average lifesaving cost at $228.10 per pet for those two years. The more in kind donations of needed goods and services we receive, the less financial expenditures we have to make, increasing the cost effectiveness of No Kill programming such as ours. The above helps to convey how important your in-kind donations of goods and services are to helping us keep our financial expenditures as low as possible. We could not have met our lifesaving costs in 2012 and 2013 without the added help of in-kind donations of goods and services. To donate pet supplies, equipment and other services or to inquire as to what in kind donations of goods and services we currently need, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
The primary difference between our organizational expenditures and larger organizations in NM is that we only spend funds on direct lifesaving - ie. programs that help keep pets in the home and programs that help homeless pets get out of shelters alive and find happy homes. An example would be a large private animal welfare organization in NM that spends $6 million per year and finds homes for less than 5,000 animals. Our average cost to place a pet in a happy home is now approximately $250. If our organizational expenditures were $6 million, we would place or transfer with full medical needs met, over 20,000 pets in happy homes each year. We do not have that level of revenue so we can only find happy homes for the number of pets we are currently able to assist. We are only limited in our lifesaving ability by the number of volunteers we have and the amount of funds and in-kind donations we receive each year.
THANK YOU to our volunteers and those foundations, organizations, businesses, individuals and families across the country who support our lifesaving work. None of our work is possible without your help.
